About Tabitha

Hi, I'm Tabby. Nice to meet you!

I've been working with KS3 and 4 students for three years, tutoring in class as a teaching assistant and taking my own 1-to-1 or group classes in English and Art. I've helped many students get through summer exams and GCSEs, but I've also helped students gain so much more than just exam results. I achieved A*s at A-level and GCSE in Art and English, and I know how stressful school can be. But learning should be more than that! It's a door to new ways of seeing the world, new possibilities, and often new friends.

A bit more about me: I am in my mid-twenties and currently studying for a Masters in Creative Writing, focusing on literary non-fiction and short story writing. I live by river Thames in East London and love exploring the layered history of different places.

About the lesson

With three years experience teaching KS3/4/5 in English and Art, I am confident that my students should both enjoy and be challenged by my lessons.

English lessons are usually one to two hours long and will focus on either general literacy, approaching literary texts, revision and exam technique (both for lit and lang), practice questions, creative writing, and grammar. My speciality is prepping KS4 students for GCSE exams, and helping KS3 students in developing both confidence and passion for English.

I also tutor in KS3/4 Art & Design, having worked both as an in-class-tutor and an Art Technician. I offer 1-to-1 sketchbook help, which includes critical art wiring techniques, practical art skills, research help, and project direction assistance. I achieved A*s in both English and Art at GCSE (2014) and A-level (2016), so I know the exam system well, whilst also still being familiar with it from a student's point of view.

I have also done extensive SEN training and student mentoring, so am familiar with how important well-being and safe spaces are for students to grow and develop. I love engaging with young people and am confident in my abilities to help any student flourish.

Lessons are in London (at your home) and online via Zoom.
