About Abyan

I am a first-year MEng Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Sheffield, currently achieving first-class marks. Alongside engineering, Art has been one of my strongest subjects. I achieved 100% in GCSE Art and have experience mentoring Art students with portfolio development, annotation and final-piece planning.

I have helped students improve their Art portfolios by making their development clearer, strengthening their written analysis, improving the link between artist research and practical work, and giving more focused next steps. I have also supported a student who achieved 100% in GCSE Art.

My approach is structured, honest and improvement-focused. I help students see what their portfolio is already doing well, where it is unclear or underdeveloped, and what practical changes would make the work stronger.

I can support GCSE and A-Level Art students across all exam boards, especially with portfolio feedback, sketchbook development, annotation, artist research, experimentation and final-piece planning.

About the lesson

I offer online GCSE and A-Level Art feedback for students who want clearer portfolio direction, stronger annotation, better artist research and more confident final-piece development.

I do not complete coursework for students. My role is to help students understand what makes a portfolio stronger. Rather than just saying whether work is “good”, I give specific improvements and next steps.

My sessions are usually 60 minutes, but I am happy to arrange shorter or longer sessions depending on the amount of work a student wants to review. Lessons can focus on sketchbook pages, artist research, annotation, development work, composition, photography, experimentation, refinement, evaluation, or final-piece planning.

I can also review students’ Art work outside lessons. Students can send photos of sketchbook pages, development work or final-piece plans, and I can return structured feedback with strengths, weaknesses and clear targets for improvement.

The hourly rate applies to online lessons and live portfolio review sessions.

I can also offer written feedback on Art work outside lessons:

Small set of sketchbook pages: £8
Detailed sketchbook or development feedback: £15
Larger portfolio or final-piece planning review: £20

Written feedback prices are based on the amount of work sent and the level of detail requested. If the work is unusually long, I will confirm the price before starting. The free first lesson is used as an introductory portfolio audit to understand the student’s current work, aims and main improvement areas.
