About Angela

I am a graduate from the University of KwaZulu Natal Edgewood campus with a Bachelor of Education degree (Intermediate/ Senior phase). My majors are natural sciences and technology. I possess a track record of driving growth through the various forms of my teaching practice. In 2017 I served as a replacement teacher. I taught Ems to the Grade 9s, English home language to Grade 8 and 9s, and Grade 10 LO. During this period, I performed all the duties of a full-time teacher and had a form class (see attached in my cv). It allowed me to reflect on the type of teacher I am and enhance my flexibility. I find it being my greatest strength because it allows me to focus on different learning needs and abilities. I also believe I can take on the challenge of exploring teaching new subjects. From December 2020 to April 2021 I served as a Grade 7 Educator Assistant. I am a very hardworking individual who ensures I grow my skills and excel in every field. During my school years, I have been part of numerous extracurricular activities. I have continued to excel at my campus. My main achievements being awarded the Dean’s Special Award for being placed 2nd in my year in 2018. I also served on the UKZN Golden Key chapter executive committee in 2019 and 2020 as the Professional Development Director. It allowed me to achieve my personal and professional goals and develop greater leadership skills. One of my most useful skills is being computer literate. I am fluent in using most teaching programs, including SA-SAMS and general programs, which is of great value to this everchanging world, and profession. I have also completed FPD online courses in financial literacy, microsoft digital literacy, and management & leadership.

About the lesson

My teaching method is a combination of problem-based learning, and gamification. I base my learning on catering for learners with different learning needs. I believe anything can be accomplished if we work together. Problem-based learning starts from acknowledging all the prior knowledge your learners have, and is essential it takes one through every stage of learning. Combining this with games, and technology makes lessons more interesting, relatable, and teaches learners other important life skills. I approach each topic by asking questions that encourage learners to ask more questions, and raise their curiosity levels with the inclusion of educational games that stimulates thinking.
