About Jacob
I’m Jacob, a professional linguist and writer based in Winchester. I’m seeking online and face-to-face tutoring opportunities for students studying for qualifications in French, Spanish and English Language/Literature, or with those looking for private language tuition. As a first-class Oxford graduate with experience preparing students for Oxbridge, I am also well placed to offer support with applications to top universities.

I am a friendly tutor and try to use humour to bridge the gap between languages and cultures (if something is funny, you're much more likely to remember it!).
I start by discussing educational needs and goals with the client.
For example, if you or your child is a native/heritage speaker of French or Spanish but is studying the language formally for the first time, we would start with a rigorous crash-course in grammar and spelling.
When teaching English, I always start with a text or extract that you have a strong reaction to as a gateway into analysing language and literary techniques.
